While lingering over of a cup of coffee at Paul with Sarah today in Xin Tian Di, I saw this dapper young man pass by our outside table. I hastily put down my latte, told Sarah “to hold that thought,” and literally jumped out of my chair to chase after him. I blabbered in Chinese how I have a fashion website and gushed how fantastic his style was, when he calmly interrupted me, “I’m from New York.” Clearly Ray is a native English speaker, and also equally a natural at putting together a sharp yet relaxed look.
Ray is currently in Shanghai to study theater. This post is fitting because not only does he look so slick, but also because of the serendipity of meeting a thespian before I start my new job here as a costume stylist for a new western theater company! I attend my first full cast meeting tomorrow. More details to come….
